On 26 September 2026, Abril and Matt celebrated their wedding at Fernbank Farm, surrounded by 82 of their favourite people.
Fernbank Farm is such a beautiful place to celebrate a wedding, with its landscaped gardens, lush rainforest and picturesque little pockets that make the perfect backdrop for photos. It’s a venue that feels especially beautiful when you take the time to enjoy everything around you.
The day started with warm spring weather before a late afternoon storm rolled in, bringing some cooler temperatures that were a welcome change. The rain also brought the surrounding rainforest to life, adding to the atmosphere of this beautiful setting.
Roaming Canapés in the Gardens
Guests enjoyed roaming canapés in the gardens, giving everyone time to mingle, catch up and make the most of the venue before sitting down for dinner.
We love this part of a wedding day because it gives guests the freedom to move around, enjoy a drink and spend time together without feeling rushed. With so many beautiful areas to explore at Fernbank Farm, it was the perfect way to begin the celebrations.
An Abundant Banquet to Share
Following cocktail hour, guests came together for an abundant banquet-style main course.
Generous platters were placed down the centre of the tables, allowing everyone to build their own plate with the dishes they were most excited to try before passing the platters along to the next person.
There’s something special about this style of dining. Rather than having every meal individually plated, guests share the food, pass dishes around and naturally become part of the experience. It encourages conversation and creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere around the table.
For Abril and Matt’s wedding, it was a lovely way to bring everyone together and continue the relaxed feel of the day.

A Beautiful Spring Wedding at Fernbank Farm
One of the things we love about catering weddings is seeing how the setting, the food and the way guests come together all contribute to the overall atmosphere.
Fernbank Farm provided a beautiful backdrop for Abril and Matt’s celebration, with its gardens and rainforest creating a stunning setting even as the weather changed throughout the afternoon.
Starting with roaming canapés before moving into a shared banquet gave guests plenty of time to enjoy the venue, connect with one another and settle into the celebrations.
